Broadbeach take 6 points home from Knights

Well done to both Mens teams for bringing home 6 points back with us on Saturday from Gold Coast Knights. In the Premier league game it was everything we expected and planned for and everyone stood up when it counted. The Knights definitely had the better of the 1st halfs posession putting alot of pressure in our final 3rd by constant high balls put into their big lads to hopefully get on to. Unfortunately for them, our defensive display was the best of the year with Robbie and our defence coping with everything including the kitchen sink. We had just a couple of half chances in the 1st half and made it count just before half time with Nori smashing home his first goal of the season to give us the edge at half time.

We came out in the 2nd half up a gear and started to turn the game in our favour, and it was helped along with their big striker being sent off for a second yellow in the first 10mins. Nori and Chris started to dominate with Nori in particular giving the right back an absolute bath and we soon managed to somehow miss chance after chance to put the game to bed. Mr Broadfoot after beating two lads on the halfway line was clean through with support to his left and right and no knights players in sight only to chip straight to a stunned keeper (me and the rest of the team - no comment but a definite fine). Nori made the points safe near the end with a cool chip over their keeper to win 2 nil.

Special mention to Robbie and our back 3 led by Hatwell which put in a brilliant display of defending which they have now set the bar for the rest of the season.

Broadbeach Win Two Coast Cup

Windy arvo at surfers made for a tough afternoon in the 2 coast cup final today. In short, made chances and played reasonably well for the first 65 mins with a 2 -1 lead courtesy of a burkey tap in and Lukes tap in as well. Scoreline and the fact surfers were down to 10 men resulted in Broadie putting in a woeful last 25 mins with the full time whistle being a great sound to my ears.

Broadfoot missing a penalty with a chance to put the game to bed and giving the scoreboard a better indication of our overall performance didn't eventuate and with him and the whole team thinking about what they are wearing tomorrow at Hooters for the start of our pub crawl resulted in a nervous end to the game.

Seriously, well done lads on a superb preseason and I meant what I said to Chris, Alex, Hatwell and Verny before this season started, I play for trophies and coach for trophies - anything else doesn't interest me.

Keep the good work up, with a little lady luck we will do well this year - One trophy down, 3 to go. why not?

Crampy.

Special note - Greeny and Kieran - well played.
